lavender hydrosol

I've shared about hydrosols here and typically get them from my favorite PUFA aware skincare company. However, they were out of stock on hydrosols for a while, and Rooted Radiance came highly recommended! I am so glad I tried them. I got one of almost everything available at the time, but it looks like since their debut, quite a few other options have been added! Keep reading to see which ones I tried.

Here's what is says about hydrosols on their site:

"Get ready to experience the pure luxury of our organic hydrosols. These floral waters will enhance your skin while providing a touch of refreshing herbal fragrance.

Hydrosols (also known as floral water) capture the healing essence of plant material in a gentle, misting spray to use on face, body and home with the science of distillation. Hydrosols are a much gentler, safer alternative to essential oils and require vastly less plant material to produce these beautiful aromatic waters. Add a hydrosol to your skincare routine before moisturizer to further hydrate and heal, or on your hair as a light scent and hair strengthener. Spray in your bathroom or bedroom or diffuse for a soft, herbal smell.

Our hydrosols are certified organic and harvested on small USA family farms. They are distilled right on the farm to maximize freshness of the plant material. The herbs are harvested in peak season and in small batches to ensure maximum vibrancy."

Peppermint + Spearmint Hydrosol

As with most hydrosols, I am usually surprised by their scent. They never smell quite like the name or the smell I'm used to, because it often uses the whole plant. I liked this one and thought it was refreshing with a little root-y smell to it!

Here's what the website had to say:

"Why peppermint + spearmint? This hydrosol boasts sweet and earthy notes of both mint plants to energize you through the power of aromatherapy. Mint is used as a skin toner and is used as a mild astringent. It can help to reveal smoother, supple and hydrated skin and tightening pores. Mint contains rosmarinic acid which helps to improve blood circulation in the skin and can reduce dark circles around the eyes. Use as a facial mist to enjoy these benefits! Or spray in a room to enjoy the fresh, minty scent to give you a boost of motivation."

Lavender Hydrosol

Lavender hydrosol is always my favorite. I think because I liked it before I liked anything else lavender scented - but only because lavender hydrosols smell like rosemary to me and I love it!

Here's what the website had to say:

"Why lavender? Lavender is the queen of all herbs and for good reason. It is known worldwide for stress relieving, calming and helping to get a good nights rest. Spray the hydrosol on your pillow or as a body mist before bed to utilize the restful properties or use on your face and body as a gentle, hydrating mist. Lavender has a long list of skin benefits like healing eczema, acne, soothing irritated skin, reduce wrinkles and adding a healthy glow. Mist onto your hair before brushing to promote hair growth and prevent thinning while also giving your scalp a boost of nourishment."

Lemon Balm Hydrosol

This one grew on me, like most hydrosols do. For whatever reason, some of the varieties take me a few days and then they really grow one me - this has happened several times! Including Kossma's Chamomile Yarrow Hydrosol.

Here's what the Rooted Radiance website had to say:

"Why lemon balm? With hints of lemon and citronella, this hydrosol has a richly layered scent profile that is sure to elevate your day! Lemon balm is a member of the mint family and has been used for centuries to promote rest and deep sleep as well as reducing anxiety. Spray our hydrosol onto your pillow or as a body mist before bed to allow the aromatherapy to assist in a good nights sleep. It's also a potent antiviral and can help relieve cold sores, minor wounds and itchy insect bites. Lemon balm contains rosmarinic acid which helps with oily skin and can help to prevent acne outbreaks. It's also useful to spray onto the skin after being exposed to harsh sunlight."

When I purchased, I think Rose Geranium and German Chamomile were the only other options available. Now they also have: Frankincense, Forest Mist, and Eucalyptus hydrosols available, too! I look forward to trying them all and mixing up my pre-tallow routine. Shop the Rooted Radiance store here. I love supporting small businesses! P.S. I took pictures of all the bottles and cannot find them, so weird!!!

What's your favorite hydrosol? Tell me in the comments. Keep up with what I'm trying out in my stories!
