I've been using castor oil for decades and have come a long way from wrapping up in cotton sheets, to wool flannel, to now, these easy to use reusable wraps! These wraps would have definitely made it easier in my post-marathon days. I guess technically it is still those days, but you know what I mean, haha!
I have done a lot of research and was happy to come across Creekwood Naturals brand castor oil. It's cold pressed and 100% pure Castor Oil that is natural and hexane free with no: phthalates, gluten, artificial ingredients or colors and they don't use any carrier oils. They only sell their products direct so I can easily say there's nothing else like this brand of castor oil! I have to mention that there are some others that sell castor oil and packs but I just cannot buy from a brand that says they "pray" over their products when I don't think they pray to the "big G" God. I'm not about vibes, I'm about discernment.
I got the 4-piece castor oil wrap kit that came with:
large castor oil pack - I like using this over my liver, back, abdomen.
smaller castor oil wrap - I use this on my neck (atop thyroid area)
a ziplock foil storage bag- I keep both sizes in this in between uses and it seals pretty easily!
16oz. glass bottle of castor oil
Here you can see a close up of the bottle and storage bag.
I've never done this before (because I've never experienced a pre-made pack in this way), but the directions recommended rinsing with water so the castor oil would absorb better - it really needs a lot of water, you can just see the droplets sitting atop it here. I needed to use more I think, especially for my first use!
In this video, you can see me (heavily) pouring on the castor oil (that's just my preference) on the large and small pack.
If you're curious about that cool hot pack in my video, I got it about a decade ago but definitely like the old school water bottle alongside the pack, and this has a zipper that heating packs can go in which is pretty cool. I like that these packs make it more mobile, but I still lay a towel down on the bed (just in case there are any leaks) and lay the water bottle on top of my ribs while I sip some warm tea with the pack on!
