using pancake dispenser to pour out perfectly sized pancakes on griddle

I don't know why, but I like to hear people's answers on the question: pancakes or waffles?! My parents' response is french toast, lol. Maybe I'll have to do a post on how I make that in the future. I made waffles and shared about it here. When we have visitors, I like to make pancakes with a stewed fruit topping for breakfast. Who's coming to visit next?! I found this pancake dispenser and wanted to try it out and share about it here with you.

As you can see in the cover picture, it's a squeeze bottle that reminds me of a shaker bottle - it even comes with the little spring thing to mix things up inside. If you're wondering what recipe I use, I normally just search fluffy pancakes and follow the recipe that shows up. I haven't found my go-to one yet. As you know, I also can never completely follow directions and typically make my own spin on things.

Pancake-Making Details

Mentioned above, I like to make these when we have visitors, but making them from scratch in the morning just takes way too much time, so I like to have the batter prepped - everything but the liquid ingredients, which I often have pre-measured and ready to go in the fridge! Oh, and I also use a little tape on the bottle to remind me what I need to add in still (i.e. the wet ingredients in the fridge and vanilla) so I don't forget! I added all the normal dry ingredients into the dispenser: flour, sugar, baking powder, salt (affiliate code: SB10). Then, I add my extras, which can change from time to time, but often include:

  • Colostrum - (pictured below) read all about the colostrum I choose here. (affiliate code: SB10). If you're curious about my pantry containers, I share about them in detail in this post.

  • Collagen - (pictured below) there are so many brands of collagen I've tried. mCollagen is the one I pick - you can read more about it here. (affiliate code: SB10)

It's nice that the system is designed to put on the lid and take off the bottom part and then the top fits in the bottom to fill it up with my dry ingredients.

Here you can see I've added the dry and wet ingredients:

Now it's time for the shaker ball:

I really did a step-by-step on this one to share with you all, lol. Shaker ball in the pancake dispenser:

Then, I put the base on and shook. This is what it looks like all mixed up, with the shaker ball taken out:

I think it really does make perfectly sized and round pancakes! It's easy to make them bigger or smaller and I think it'd be perfect if I wanted to get creative and do some pancake art, too!

Cleanup was easy because the only thing dirty was the dispenser and I didn't have extra prep bowls or anything, because I used it to store all the (loosely) measured ingredients the night before.

Pancake Topping Details

Growing up I always had maple syrup on pancakes - which is delicious, but I really like being able to use the fresh fruit we've picked and frozen throughout the year. To make stewed fruit, I add a mix of frozen fruit (whatever we have) with about 3/4c of sugar and slowly bring it to a boil. Then, I turn it down and let it simmer to reduce a bit, and it's a delicious pancake topper. It's even better when I make fresh whipped cream and add a dollop!

The butter you see in my favorite pan on the back burner (affiliate code: SATIATEDBLONDE) is for making crisp/cobbler - you can read all about that debate here. (post coming soon)

Just a note, I tried to use the pancake dispenser to mix electrolyte powder and it leaked. It did not leak with the pancake batter since it is thicker, though! Curious about other kitchen tools and gadgets I've tried? Check out this post!

So, what is it - pancakes or waffles?! Be sure to tell me in the comments. Stay up to date with what I'm eating, cleaning, and everything in between in my stories!
