Exploring the Remarkable Redwoods of Ohio: A Hidden Gem in the Midwest

The Satiated Blonde

Did you know there are Redwoods in Ohio? As soon as my husband and I found out (from his friend) we had to go see them for ourselves at Schedel Arboretum and Gardens! That's what you can see pictured above. They are beautiful.

The grounds are so well kept and I look forward to going back in the different seasons -- especially to see the peonies in bloom! We did catch the roses and so many other blooms, like the waterlilies! According to their website, they have over 10,000 annuals in addition to their unique and exotic perennials and permanent displays!

Even though I don't like the idea that bonsai style trees are stunted in growth, Schedel's exhibit of them is unlike anything I've ever seen before. So exquisite and I got to see the tiniest pinecone! It's pretty amazing how old some of them are, too!

They are open April through October, and I'm looking forward to my next visit! They also offer rentals for weddings, and have such a beautiful venue, including a picturesque Japanese garden. Their ponds are magnificent! Not surprising, they have some wildlife, like a couple swans, and we were sure to keep our distance.

What's your favorite bloom each year? Are you going to plan a trip to Elmore, Ohio? Be sure to tell me in the comments. Catch me on socials here.
